Submit to Sequart.com
Our site is interested in quality writing on comics for our ComicsFiles section.
We are particularly interested in annotations, articles, and interviews.
Previously published or currently online material, as long as you own the copyright, is welcome along with new material.
Please familiarize yourself with our site before submitting.
Our subjects range from mainstream to alternative comics, though we prefer to avoid both the tone of fanish adulation (often of mainstream super-hero work) and the tone of insular self-righteousness (often of independent work).
The ideal submission has at least a passing familiarity with both.
Although we focus predominantly on American comics, we are also interested in Japanese and European subjects.
What You Get
Sequart.com reaches thousands of visitors each day and can offer your material a wide audience.
Although we reserve the right to remove material from the site, we do not anticipate ever doing so.
Because of this, your work may hypothetically be read for years to come, if not in perpetuity.
In the case of out-of-print material, the possibility of a permanent archive may particularly interest authors.
Sequart.com is unable to pay contributors at this time and makes no guarantee, stated or implied, of future compensation.
We are able, in most cases, to add links from your material to other online work you may have and from other pages on this site to your material.
What You Give
By submitting to Sequart.com, you agree to grant Sequart.com the non-exclusive, transferrable rights to your material in perpetuity.
You also agree that Sequart.com may, in perpetuity, reformat your material without restriction and / or edit your material within reason.
We reserve these rights out of a desire not to have to remove material with time, format changes, or other concerns.
Although we reserve these rights, we have never had a problem with a single contributor.
We do not take your copyright.
You retain the right to publish the same material elsewhere, including on other websites or in print, in identical or in altered form.
What Not to Do
Because we cannot gaurantee the continuity of off-site links, no matter how prestigious at present, it is our policy to distinguish them from the main text.
We avoid off-site links unless directly relevant to the main text or its author, and we never offer them within the text of our material.
When reference to websites is necessary within the text, they will be underlined without a link.
Grammatical errors, unless clearly deliberate to achieve a particular rhetorical effect, irritate the hell out of us.
Avoid them.
Do not insult us by failing to proofread your work, which will only damage your chances.
While you are welcome to inquire about your submission, please be patient.
We offer no guarantee, especially given the vagaries of e-mail, that all submissions will be read or fairly evaluated.
Sequart.com strives to retain high standards, and we urge you not to take rejection personally.
Rejections are generally offered with commentary or constructive criticism.
What to Do
Having read these guidelines in full, prepare an e-mail with your submission.
In your e-mail, you must indicate that you have read this page and that you hold the copyright to your submission.
If your work is already available online (and, of course, you own the copyright), simply include its address.
Otherwise, simply include your submission, along with any relevant graphics.
Then send your submission to submissions@sequart.com.
