The second year of the New Gotham era began with a crossover between the
various Batman titles, albeit one that would only last a month. Titled Officer Down, it
saw James Gordon shot and Catwoman suspected. The Batman family solved the crime, but Gordon
decided in the conclusion to retire. It was not only the first time the titles were united since
No Man's Land, but the first major change to the Batman mythos since the restoration of
Gotham. Moreover, it was a memorable story of high quality.
