Third Series (2001-Present)
In 2001, DC relaunched Green Arrow with celebrity writer Kevin Smith. The series sold fabulously, placing the character considered second-string among the top-selling American comic books. Phil Hester's stylized interior art and Matt Wagner's able covers added well to the mix. If anything, Smith was the weakest link: he has a tendency to make all of his characters talk like post-adolescents with arrested development, and his structure was considerably weaker than his work on Marvel's Daredevil in 1998-1999.
Smith lasted 15 issues on the title, his longest run on any comic at the time.
