World Without End is a six-issue mini-series. Published by DC in 1990 and 1991, it featured painted art and cardstock covers -- years ahead of these features becoming popular. It depicted a dystopian future of literal gender wars, but seemed to collapse under its own weight.

    Tainted
Tainted was originally planned to be released as the third of the three original "Vertigo Voices" specials, it was actually the second due to the delay of Grant Morrison's Kill Your Boyfriend. These special were probably the best idea Vertigo has ever had: the idea was to take the great creators (particularly writers) associated with Vertigo and give them specials, owned by those creators. They acted as renegade short blasts, acts of artistic terrorism. Delano offered a psychological masterpiece, very well illustrated by Al Davison. One is not likely to forget Tainted.

    2020 Visions
2020 Visions is a twelve-issue mini-series, published by DC / Vertigo from early 1997 to early 1998. It was really four mini-series, consisting of three issues each and each taking place within the same future. Taking place in 2020, the twelve issues thus provided four seperate visions, each with their own artist and cover design. Though some stories were better than others, the whole was rather impressive, with many clever and enjoyable touches.

    Hell Eternal
Hell Eternal is a single 64-page prestige format issue, published by DC / Vertigo during the same month as 2020 Visions #12. It was published as part of Vertigo's very brief "Vertigo Verité" push, a rather stupid title for a revamped "Vertigo Voices."

    Outlaw Nation
Outlaw Nation was an ongoing series, published by DC / Vertigo, beginning in 2000. The series was originally entitled The Great Satan and premiered in Vertigo: Winter's Edge III in December 1999. It featured the then-unknown Goran Sudzuka as the primary artist, much as Eduardo Risso was mostly unknown when 100 Bullets began. The title was changed to Outlaw Nation for the actual series. DC hoped that it would be the next Preacher, particularly given its less than "serious" tone and its procession of covers by Glenn Fabry, but the series failed to achieve Preacher's success -- in fact, it failed to achieve sales levels that would even justify a trade paperback, which would likely have increased sales. The series ended after just nineteen issues.
