Marvel was long considered cursed in terms of movies.  Although the live-action TV series The Incredible Hulk succeeded in the 1970s, the 1970s live-action TV series The Amazing Spider-Man failed.  In the 1980s and 1990s, a small number of films (e.g. The Punisher) were such great disasters that they went straight to video, while others (e.g. Howard the Duck) tanked at the box office.  1998’s Blade changed that, laying the ground for 2000’s X-Men.  After 2002’s Spider-Man broke sales record after sales record, the floodgates opened for Marvel movies in Hollywood.

The following table does not include animated work.  Cells shaded in the same color have been established to participate in the same continuity.
