Reloaded Era (2003-Present)
Following the departure of the various Superman titles' creative teams, and the one-month "Strange New Visitor" storyline that followed, DC offered "Godfall." The storyline ran for two months through the three Superman titles, frequently selling out as fans prepared for the new creative teams that would begin upon the completion of "Godfall." Each of the six issues of the storyline featured a shortened main story, featuring Superman dealing with an altered Krypton, as well as back-ups that introduced the new creators and mini-series that would accompany them.
With 2003's Superman: Birthright #1 (as well as 2003's Superman / Batman #1), Superman's origin was quietly retconned: he was shown leaving Krypton as a baby, contradicting John Byrne's Man of Steel mini-series. This change corresponded to the TV series Smallville, where the Superman character arrived as a baby. The feeling at DC was that this change made these two series more accessable and that Man of Steel was could be ignored because it was published almost twenty years before.
