Steven T. Seagle et al Era (2003)
With January 2003, the Superman titles began a new era with Superman: The 10-Cent Adventure, beginning the run on Superman of writer Steven T. Seagle and artist Scott McDaniel. Joe Kelly continued as writer on Action Comics and Joe Casey continued as writer on Adventures of Superman. Filling the absence of Superman: The Man of Steel, which had its final issue in January 2004, was Superman: Metropolis, a 12-issue mini-series.
The run of these four creative teams came to an end with the end of 2003 and Superman #200, concluding the various threads of Seagle's run on the title. The Superman titles were being made available for their new, high-profile creative teams, set to take over the titles in April 2004. In the meantime, a storyline beginning with Superman's disappearance in Superman #200 would be provided to bridge the gap between the two eras. In the month following Superman #200, the Superman titles crossed over for "Strange New Visitor," focusing on Metropolis in Superman's absence.
