In 1996, Teen Titans was relaunched with great fanfare as a new
series featuring an entirely new team of teen characters. Most impressively, the series
sported Dan Jurgens as writer with art by Jurgens and George Pérez. The unknown nature of the
characters, however, hurt the title and appearances by the original Titans did little to help.
The title was cancelled in 1998, after just two years. In 1997, halfway through the run, however, saw the launch of another
ongoing with another new team of teens. Young Heroes in Love, which lacked the stardom
of Jurgens's Teen Titans, similarly failed to capture an audience and was cancelled even
quicker than the new Teen Titans title. Despite this rapid failure, the title has fared
better in memory than the title fared at the time, and Young Heroes in Love is often
remembered as a brief but fun series that had a certain cleverness yet didn't take itself too
seriously.
